It works both ways: in summer bubble wrap keeps your room cool by reducing the amount of sunlight entering your room and in winter it helps keep the heat inside. This is both good for your heating bill as well as your ecological footprint. The secret is to spray a bit of water on the window and then stick the bubble wrap against it.
